As an Alliance Member, your voice matters to us. In concert with our commitment to Democracy in Sports at Sounders FC, you are at the center of our club. We want you to participate and share your voice to help shape our future.

In addition to our third-ever General Manager Vote, this year’s Sounders Ballot includes the chance to vote on your favorite 2023 Alliance Member scarf design, the name of our upcoming Fan-Funded Field, Humanitarian of the Year, and so much more.

WHAT: The 2022 Sounders Ballot is the right for Alliance Members to vote on several key club initiatives, including the retention of Sounders FC General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey.

WHO: Alliance Members are eligible to vote, consisting of all 2022 Sounders FC Alliance Members and suite holders.

WHEN: Voting begins September 9 at 10:00 AM PT and ends September 28 at 5:00 PM PT.

WHERE: Alliance Members can vote at Lumen Field during our September 10 and September 27 home matches or at SoundersFC.com/Ballot.

WHY: Drew Carey is the visionary of the General Manager Vote and the Democracy In Sports model. He wanted a structure where fans have a direct say in the direction of their club, which is unprecedented in professional sports.

HOW: 40% of eligible Alliance Members must vote for the ballot to be valid. Action in the General Manager Vote can only be taken by the super-majority of no less than 67%. The GM Vote is weighted, meaning Alliance Members have as many votes as they have seats on their account. Results will be announced in November at the Annual Business Meeting.

The vote consists of several key club initiatives. Explore the various categories, which include important information on each vote. Visit us at our September 10 and September 27 home matches to cast your ballot or vote online between September 9 - 28.

Vote on the design of your 2023 Alliance Member Scarf, designed in partnership with local Washington artist Shogo Ota, selected by your Alliance Council. All designs are provided in black and white for voting purposes but will be translated to color to match the 2023 community kit.

ABOUT THE ARTIST: Shogo Ota is a local Seattle artist, soccer fan, and owner of the graphic design and art company Tireman Studio. You may recognize his work from a Lumen Field mural in partnership with Starbucks or from the special warm-up jersey design he did for the Seattle Kraken in celebration of NHL Green Night. These designs are representative of Shogo's unique style and celebrate Sounders Fandom.

Each year, Sounders FC honors a Humanitarian of the Year. This year’s nominees use soccer as a vehicle to act in support of inclusion, tolerance, and justice in our community. They work to Fight Racism, Defend the Right to Play, Protect Our Planet or Stand for LGBTQ+ Equality. Fan Funded Field Naming Finalists:

Alliance Council has reviewed the Alliance Council Constitution and have primarily streamlined language, grammar and formatting to make it easier to understand. The main change was language concerning timing of the General Manager vote to allow for stronger collaboration between Sounders FC and the Alliance Council in the process. We believe, as Alliance Council, these small changes will have positive impacts. Any questions about the adjustments can be directed to: soundersalliancecouncil@gmail.com
